BMW X5 Recalled for Brake Fault

WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J. – BMW of North America, LLC is recalling nine BMW X5 sport utility vehicles which may have improperly assembled front brakes.

 

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Part 573 Safety Recall Report 21V-089 the nine vehicles in question, 2021 BMW X5 sDrive40i, X5 xDrive40i assembled between Feb. 6-10, 2021, might have used unspecified fasteners in the assembly of the right-front brake components.

According to the recall report, this might result in: “Over time, if a front right brake disc became loose, it could affect vehicle handling and control, and increase the risk of a crash”

 

The fix includes inspection of the right-front brake and, if necessary, replacement of it. BMW dealers were scheduled for notification beginning Feb. 18th; owners are scheduled to be notified, by mail, beginning April 12th.

 

As in other recall campaigns, BMW will assume the cost of repair.
